Sainsbury’s unveiled its 2019 Christmas commercial created by the advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy, and it was directed by Ninian Doff. The film is about the first Sainsbury’s store, which opened in 1869 and it tells the story of Nick, who is falsely accused of stealing a clementine from the Sainsbury’s store.
The spot was filmed on a set in Romania not in London due to the cost and weather.
The message is “150 years ago Sainsbury’s opened their first store and Christmas changed forever. Coincidence? Almost certainly… ho ho ho.”
