A beautiful XMS advert
The John Lewis Christmas 2022 advert is named “Beginner,” a tear-jerking Christmas film about a foster dad story that is a skateboarder beginner.
John Lewis Christmas 2022 advert tells the story of a big-hearted man who takes up a certain new hobby a little later in life than you’d expect.
Although he struggles initially, he never gives up – despite the bumps and scrapes. And, after a few weeks, he begins to get the hang of it.
But then, with a ring of the doorbell, it becomes clear what – or who – all his efforts have been for. Because it’s what we do that matters most.
The message of the John Lewis Christmas 2022 advert is “This Christmas it’s about what we do that matters most. That’s why we used our advert this Christmas to highlight an issue close to hearts, so that together, we can be a force for positive change for a generation of young people growing up in care or who have experienced being in care. We want every young person to feel valued and seen and have the same opportunity for a happier Christmas and a happier future.”

Song and lyrics
The background music of the John Lewis Christmas 2022 ad is the song All The Small Things by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox. Lyrics below:
All the, small things
True care, truth brings
I’ll take, one lift
Your ride, best trip
Always, I know
You’ll be at my show
Watching, waiting, commiserating
Say it ain’t so,
I will not go,
Turn the lights off
Carry me home
Home
Carry me home
Late night, come home
Work sucks, I know
She left me roses by the stairs
Surprises let me know she cares
Say it ain’t so
I will not go
Turn the lights off
Carry me home
Home
Hold your head still I’ll be your thrill,
The night will go on,
My little windmill
All the, small things
True care, truth brings
I’ll take, one lift
Your ride, best trip
Always, I know
You’ll be at my show
Watching, waiting, commiserating
Say it ain’t so,
I will not go,
Turn the lights off,
Carry me home
Home
Carry me home
Carry me home
Carry me
