In an unprecedented breakthrough, Swiss icons Hublot and Nespresso have joined forces to craft a remarkable timepiece from recycled Nespresso aluminum capsules and coffee grounds – the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin. This trailblazing collaboration underscores both brands’ commitment to innovation, excellence, and sustainability.

Since its inception in 1980, Hublot has made its name through the “Art of Fusion,” pioneering new alloys, materials, and composites and bringing rubber into the limelight of the watchmaking industry. On the other hand, Nespresso has been revolutionizing the coffee industry since 1986 with its precision-blend capsule system, complemented by an innovative recycling system established in 1991. Now, the synergy of these two brands brings to life a wristwatch that transforms coffee capsules into a stylish accessory, from strap to case.

The watch straps of the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin are ingeniously fashioned from used coffee grounds from the capsules – a testament to the pioneering spirit of Hublot and Nespresso. The recycled aluminum is fused with the aluminum capsules to form the watch case, bezel, crown, and pusher – a world-first innovation. The iconic “N” of Nespresso engraved on the crown and the Master Origins Peru Organic capsule-inspired color all honor this unique collaboration’s origins.

Excellence is further exemplified in the watch’s composition. Its 42-mm case is skillfully crafted from recycled aluminum, with 28% sourced from Nespresso coffee capsules. It’s then anodized in vibrant green, satin finished, and polished for a striking aesthetic. Eco-Titanium is used for the bottom of the case and the container, emphasizing the commitment to sustainability.

An integral part of this timepiece is Hublot’s patented One Click interchangeable strap system, which incorporates recycled Nespresso coffee grounds. Achieving the perfect balance of color and quality for the rubber strap involved carefully balancing each ingredient. In partnership with SINGTEX, a Nespresso partner, the fabric strap uses 5% coffee grounds and 95% recycled polyester to form a 100% recycled fabric called S.Café – marking the first use of this fabric in a watch strap.

Creating the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin required a year of R&D by Hublot in close collaboration with Nespresso. The result is a perfect harmony of colors and materials, withstanding the test of time.

In line with their commitment to sustainability, this watch will come in the newly developed Hublot Greenbox case. Made entirely from traceable oak, with recycled fabrics, plastic yarns, PET, paper, and cardboard, the Greenbox case highlights short supply chains and promotes reusability.

The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is not merely a watch. It symbolizes the boundless possibilities of circularity, proving that recycled raw materials can be transformed into valuable products. As we look at this watch, we’re reminded that sustainability and innovation are timeless.
