Remember when Cadbury 5 Star decided to embrace the art of doing absolutely nothing? Back in 2022, amidst the festive advertising frenzy, they rolled out the “5 Stars Everywhere” campaign—a masterclass in minimal effort yielding maximum impact.

A Clever Twist on Branding

Instead of pouring resources into traditional advertising, Cadbury 5 Star made a subtle yet ingenious move: they tweaked their logo to resemble the ubiquitous five-star rating system. This meant that every time someone rated a product or service on various apps, they were inadvertently reminded of the 5 Star brand. Talk about turning the entire digital landscape into your personal billboard without breaking a sweat!

The Philosophy of ‘Do Nothing’

This campaign was a natural extension of 5 Star’s “Do Nothing” mantra. By aligning their branding with the common rating system, they ensured that users across countless platforms would encounter their logo organically. Sukesh Nayak, Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy India, highlighted this strategy as a “disruptive app takeover idea,” seamlessly integrating the 5 Star brand into everyday digital interactions.

Minimal Effort, Maximum Reach

The brilliance of “5 Stars Everywhere” lay in its simplicity. By investing next to nothing, Cadbury 5 Star achieved widespread visibility across numerous apps and platforms. Nitin Saini, Vice President of Marketing at Mondelez India, noted that this approach allowed the brand to spread the “Do Nothing” message effectively, leveraging existing digital infrastructures to their advantage.

Conclusion

In a world where advertising often leans towards the extravagant, Cadbury 5 Star’s “5 Stars Everywhere” campaign serves as a refreshing reminder that sometimes, less truly is more. By doing almost nothing, they managed to be everywhere, leaving an indelible mark on the advertising landscape.
