Breyers Gelato Indulgences: Late Night
Breyers Gelato Indulgences: Late Night is what I call “a effective TV commercial”. The theme chosen by DDB is “watch what happens when the kids go to bed”, but the strong point of it is that it makes you to want to eat this ice cream, and you’ll want to eat it now!
I want it!

It is effective.
So I’m just about fed up with this ad. Why don’t the parents respond with “Why are you up?”, “Did you need a drink of water?”
Instead they engage the child in a discussion rather than a solid and stern response.
This is another example of why kids/teenagers/young adults are the way the are nowadays – confrontational, undisciplined and expecting to get exactly what they ask for when they ask for it. I think Breyers and the ad agency that created & sold this ad to Breyers is just continuing to promote weak parenting.
The parents are just plain mean and deceitful. The kid had a legitimate question, and the parents answered it in a way that made the kid (and anybody else watching the commercial) want some gelato. How can parents be so selfish? Couldn’t they just give the kid a small bowl of his own instead of eating it in front of him?
