The new HSBC commercial UK’s TV is about borders. The advert features the English actor Richard Ellef Ayoade, best known for his role as the socially awkward IT technician Maurice Moss in Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd.
The message is “Borders come in many forms and they’re in more places than we think. Some invisible, some less so. We believe that when we can break down borders and see beyond them, then we can see opportunity everywhere.”
Advert Script:
Richard Ayoade: Borders. Can be useful… But not always. Glass ceiling… Classic border.
Parents: You’re not listening to me!
Children: No! You’re not listening…
Richard Ayoade: Political borders. Hi. Very popular these days. Sorry, just pushing this metaphor through.
Sometimes, the borders are within. She’ll be fine. But in the end, they tend to get in the way of possibility.
Because when we see beyond borders, we see opportunity everywhere. Huh, there’s one
