This is the Sainsbury’s official Christmas Advert 2015 created by advertaising agency AMV BBDO. Featuring Judith Kerr’s Mog, this extended 3:30 TV commercial is part of the Sainsbury’s Christmas campaign. The cat Mog is the main character in a series of children’s books written by Judith Kerr.
For this campaign, Judith Kerr has created a new book after 13 years. The previous one, Goodbye, Mog, was created in 2002 and Mog dies of old age. The spot was created in partnership with HarperCollins Children’s Books. The ‘Mog’s Christmas Calamity’ book is available at Sainsbury’s for £3, alongside a specially created Mog soft toy for £10. Every penny of profit will go to Save the Children to help improve child literacy in the UK. The campaign aims to improve child literacy across the UK, because every year, 1 in 5 children in England are leaving primary school behind in reading which can have huge consequences for their futures.
Directed by James Rouse, the commercial is a tale of a sequence of highly improbable and entertaining events in the early hours of Christmas morning.
