The easy way to do a funny commercial with viral potential is to use hidden camera/practical joke reality. It is what Commonwealth//McCann did for the new Chevrolet campaign. “Real people. Not actors” is the statement made at the beginning of the Chevrolet ad. On the youtube someone comments: “Actors are real people”.
The ad uses the idea of “old technology” to make a comparation between Chevy Volt and Toyota Prius. Of course, Chevy Volt use the up to date technology and Toyota Prius is the 15-year-old technology.
The ad is enjoyable to watch, even it is a little too long and unfair with the competition.
